Misereor combines disaster relief with providing long-term help to people to enable them to help themselves. Disasters can have many causes: extreme weather events, political and social crises, climatic changes, wars and conflicts.

Since 1958, we have supported people in areas where poverty is greatest – no matter what their faith, culture or the colour of their skin.

Thanks to your help we have been able to support more than 116,000 projects in over 100 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

To date, we have raised more than €8.8 billion to support people around the world to sustainably change their lives.

The German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI) certifies Misereor’s responsible and efficient use of donations.

In 2024, 92.2% of our expenditures was used for project, campaign and educational activities, while only 7.8% was used for advertising and administration.

If you donate €24 or more, you will receive a statement listing all your donations to Misereor at the beginning of the following year. This statement can be submitted to the German tax office as proof of your contributions.
