Questions & answers about training at Misereor

Which vocational school is attended during the apprenticeship?

The Misereor office is located in Aachen. Around 370 people work there. Our office management clerks attend the Paul-Julius-Reuter vocational college in Aachen as part of the dual training system. There are corresponding classes there, which spread the teaching content over two to three years, depending on the duration of the training.

The duration of training varies between two and three years, depending on previous school education.

Our trainees can familiarise themselves with different areas of our work. Office clerks not only learn about regular financial accounting, but also gain insights into financial cooperation with project partners. They learn how a house with over 300 employees is organised and find out how public relations work is done in Germany. In addition, our trainees can work at other development aid organisations in Europe as part of CIDSE, the association of Catholic organisations. This gives them an insight into the work of other organisations and improves their language skills at the same time.

We have been able to take on many of our trainees in recent years. They work as clerks or in the secretariat in various positions in the company. Some have continued their education and even studied at university on the side.
