Dr Andreas Frick has been responsible for Misereor’s fundraising, communications, educational, pastoral and campaign work since July 2024. Before becoming Director General of Misereor, he gained extensive experience in leadership positions in various organisations of the Catholic Church. Amongst other things, he was Vicar General and economist of the Diocese of Aachen, where he was also responsible for the foundation San Pedro Claver-Kolumbienstiftung. Andreas Frick studied Theology in Frankfurt am Main and Rome. He was ordained a priest in 1989 and has been working in his native region of Aachen since. He represents Misereor in the supervisory council of Coopération internationale pour le développement et la solidarité (CIDSE), an international family of Catholic social justice organisations.
Dr Bernd Bornhorst has been connected with Misereor for over 30 years. After working in Argentina and Paraguay, he became Head of the Latin America and the Caribbean Department and later assumed responsibility for Misereor’s (development) policy positioning. In 2021, he became Managing Director International Cooperation. He now manages the regional departments of Africa and the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean and Asia and Oceania as well as the cooperation with public donors. Bernd Bornhorst comes from northern Germany and earned a degree in Political Science, Sociology and Media Studies from the University of Cologne. He represents Misereor in the Board of Trustees of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Bremer Solidaritätspreis as well as in the Board of the Katholische Zentralstelle für Globale Entwicklung e.V. (the German Catholic Central Agency for Global Development, KZE).
Annette Ptassek has been Managing Director Internal Processes since 2023. She is responsible for human resources management, finance and accounting, knowledge management and (digital) organisational development Hailing from the south German region of Baden, she spent many years in Nepal and Côte d’Ivoire, and has gathered substantial experience in the organisation of international cooperation. For instance, she was Head of Human Resources at Welthungerhilfe and a supervisory board member of an impact investing company based in Frankfurt am Main. Annette Ptassek studied Slavonic Studies and Politics in Germany and Poland and holds a degree in Human Resources Management. She represents Misereor in the general meeting of shareholders of GEPA - The Fair Trade Company, in the Board of Trustees of Engagement Global and in the Board of the Hélder Câmara-Stiftung.
