The relationship between humans and animals is complicated and raises ethical, anthropological, theological and ecological questions. Conflicting interests clash. These materials are designed to encourage students to engage with this complex topic. They can be used both in subject lessons and in interdisciplinary contexts, for example during a project week. In many countries of the global South, farm animals are an important source of income and the coexistence of humans and animals is culturally deeply rooted. However, especially against the backdrop of climate change, it is important to rethink the consumption and nutritional behaviour of the Global North and discover ways to change this.

Mobility for all: utilising opportunities - shaping the future
Raw materials turnaround
Building equitable cities

This paper takes a global look at the issue of mobility and calls for a change in favour of the poorest population groups in the Global South.

After all, a mobility transition is the core element of the global socio-ecological transformation that enables a good life for all while respecting our planetary boundaries. The positive effects of the mobility transition can be achieved in particular if mobility is designed to be accessible, respects human rights and effectively recognises the interactions within the climate crisis.

The world is becoming increasingly urbanised. By 2050, two thirds of the world's population will probably live in cities. However, cities are particularly affected by the consequences of climate change. Inclusive, human rights-based and climate and environmentally friendly urban design can have a major "leverage effect" for socio-ecological transformation.

2024 Global Sovereign Debt Monitor
Debt crisis
Shaping a sustainable global economy

130 out of 152 developing and emerging countries are critically indebted. Overall, 55 per cent of the countries surveyed are critically or very critically indebted - before the Covid-19 pandemic, the figure was just 37 per cent. The Global Sovereign Debt Monitor assesses the risk of over-indebtedness in developing and emerging countries and analyses the impact of the current crises. To solve the global debt crisis, the 2024 Global Sovereign Debt Monitor proposes several reform measures, first and foremost the creation of an international sovereign insolvency procedure.
