Climate, wars, populism and social division: the numerous crises and changes we are experiencing around the world are mutually reinforcing and overlapping. In their force and simultaneity, they are overwhelming many people. What remains when the grand designs crumble? What reason sustains us? These questions are aimed right at the heart of the colourful scenery of the hunger cloth. The photos used come from Misereor partner projects and from the artist. Under a divided sky, blue and threateningly darkened on the other side, a colourful group of children live on an island, accompanied by a few animals. They all help each other. The question remains open: What event has isolated the children? Will the island and the tent be able to withstand the approaching storm?
Display fabric made from recycled fibre, approx. 180 g/sqm. The material is flame-retardant and therefore complies with DIN B1 safety regulations for public buildings. Dimensions of the large hunger cloth 284 x 200 cm. Dimensions of the motif approx. 257 x 173 cm. Due to the printing process, colour deviations between the illustration and the printed hunger cloth are possible. The hunger cloth was produced with climate contribution!

In all countries around the world, children take on a variety of jobs, for example in the family or in the family business. But where is the line between normal cooperation and exploitative child labour? Pupils learn about different forms of child labour. Selected criteria for child labour from the ILO (International Labour Organization) are illustrated, among other things, which the children can use to discuss and assess what constitutes exploitative child labour.

The climate crisis poses an old question with increasing urgency: What kind of world do we want?
The climate crisis poses an old question with increasing urgency: What kind of world do we want? One that respects the basic needs of all people and preserves their livelihoods? One in which fair rules ensure social justice? And all this for future generations as well? Is it utopian to insist on a good life for all? No more unrealistic than the utopia of endless growth on a finite planet on the backs of the weakest. This publication describes ways to create a sustainable world worth living in for everyone - and exposes false hopes and dangerous false solutions.

Colonial traces still have an impact today - in language, images and power relations. Dealing with these traces is anything but easy. It can be irritating, unsettling and painful. And yet this is precisely where an opportunity lies: the chance to make our coexistence fairer. With this issue of the "Lernen & Handeln" magazine, we would like to invite you to set out on this journey with your pupils and colleagues - with openness, courage and curiosity. For a school that actively shapes diversity and makes justice possible.
