Debating at school, long established in Anglo-Saxon countries, is also being practised more and more in Germany.
Debating in particular promotes skills and attitudes that are essential for life in a democratic, diverse society: the ability to listen, to respond to one another, to find one's own point of view, to deal with opposing positions and to argue fairly.With this in mind, the "Junior Debating in the Middle East" project supported by Misereor brings together pupils from Jerusalem, the West Bank, Cairo and, most recently, Osnabrück.
