Energy for change
- Secondary level II
- Geography, Social sciences
The teaching material "Energy for Change" is a companion to the film of the same name, which can be viewed on YouTube and elsewhere and, with a length of 35 minutes, is well suited for use in the classroom. Six protagonists from different parts of the world show how they are using ideas and creativity to improve their access to energy and make it more sustainable. The film shows examples from Belgium, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Portugal and Switzerland.
It takes up these examples and deals with the topics of "Sustainable energy use", "Communicating the global energy transition", "Sustainable energy generation through hydropower", "Clean and affordable energy for all" and "Self-determined access to energy" in six modules that are relevant to pupils. The modules can be worked on independently or in groups. The material is intended to help pupils understand energy as a complex of topics that affects various areas of life in a very practical way. In addition, the aim is to develop solutions orientated towards the living environment as to how sustainable energy use can be organised.
