The teaching material "People-Led Development - Development that starts with the human" is intended to accompany the explanatory video "Development starts with the human - People-Led Development". The video is published on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlAILHdUboA), and it can also be viewed at https://mediapool.misereor.de/schule and can also be streamed and downloaded. The teaching material describes the bottom-up people-led development approach using the example of Caritas in Embu, Kenya, which works with smallholder farmers on Mount Kenya in the field of agriculture. It was designed for use in geography lessons at upper secondary level. As the video has been published in English with German subtitles, it can also be used in bilingual lessons. There are further interfaces for the subject English and for social science subjects. The teaching material can be used both in face-to-face lessons and in distance learning; the worksheets can be downloaded as a ZIP file here.

Research in the literature database of the Misereor library
Would you like to find out more, or are you conducting research for a dissertation or final-year project?
The Misereor Library is an in-house specialist library focusing on development cooperation and development policy, with a particular emphasis on the Church’s development work; however, it is open to external users by prior appointment.
The library’s collection can be searched via the online catalogue. Books cannot be borrowed and there is no photocopying service available.
