Medienproduktion und Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH (MVG), a subsidiary of the Catholic aid organisation Misereor based in Aachen, filed for insolvency proceedings at Aachen District Court on 22 June 2025.

MVG was founded in the 1970s to raise public awareness of development cooperation issues through the production and distribution of print products and to promote the corresponding activities in parishes, One World groups, schools and kindergartens, among others. MVG's market conditions have deteriorated considerably in recent years due to a significant decline in orders as a result of digitalisation and the associated shrinkage of the print market, while church congregations have become smaller. Much of what was still in demand as a printed product a few years ago is now distributed electronically.

In-depth analysis and evaluation

Misereor has provided MVG with extensive support over the past few months in analysing and evaluating the economic situation in detail. However, in order to protect the interests of MVG's employees, customers and other contractual partners in the best possible way, the opening of insolvency proceedings was now unavoidable.

Misereor expects the Local Court of Aachen to appoint a provisional insolvency administrator in the next few days.
