Kallstadt is located on the German Wine Route in the Palatinate, near Freinsheim. The wine village is one of the eight model municipalities of the "Palatinate Forest: SDG model region for a sustainable Rhineland-Palatinate" initiative and is developing its own sustainability strategy together with the local people. Kallstadt achieved national fame as the place of origin of the ancestors of Donald Trump and Heinz ketchup founder Henry John Heinz.

Christoph Fuhrbach, born on 1970 in Frankenthal, is an endurance athlete and theologian. He became famous for his round-the-world bike ride in 1998/99 and set a world altitude record in 2010 by climbing 21,086 metres in 24 hours to collect donations for a Misereor project in Peru. Professionally, he works as a consultant for world church tasks in the diocese of Speyer and often combines his sporting activities with his commitment to a successful socio-ecological transformation.

Alexander Schweitzer, Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate since July 2024, has taken on the patronage of the "Voll das Leben" festival. He has been a vegan since 2016 and is committed to a sustainable lifestyle - an exciting change when you consider that he was a judge in a Saumagen competition in his youth

Uwe Appold, born in Wilhelmshaven in 1942, is a sculptor, painter and graduate designer. His works have been exhibited many times in Germany and abroad; in 2023 he was awarded the Marie-Luise-Born Art Prize for his life's work. In 2020, he designed the MISEREOR hunger cloth entitled "Mensch, wo bist du?".

Pirmin Spiegel was born in 1957 in Großfischlingen. He lived and worked as a missionary in Brazil for 15 years. From 2012 to 2024, he was Managing Director of the episcopal development cooperation organisation Misereor. He has worked in the diocese of Speyer since the beginning of 2025.

Joshi Nichell is a versatile photographer, filmmaker, speaker and author as well as a trained theologian and biologist. From 2016 to 2018, he travelled hitchhiking from Germany to Spain, across the Atlantic and through South America from north to south for 21 months without interruption, documenting his experiences. His work combines adventure, nature observations and social issues and he shares his findings in lectures and publications.

Bishop Dr Karl-Heinz Wiesemann was born in Herford on 1 August 1960 and was ordained a priest in Rome in 1985. After working as a vicar, parish priest and provost in the Archdiocese of Paderborn, he was appointed auxiliary bishop in 2002. He has been the 96th Bishop of Speyer since 2008.

Christian Englert, born in 1964, is an extreme athlete from Mutterstadt who specialises in ultra cycling races. In July 2024, he won the 7,400-kilometre North Cape-Tarifa race, which leads from the northernmost point of Europe in Norway to the southernmost point in Spain, in 20 days and 19 hours. Previously, Englert was also active in cross-country skiing, triathlon and mountain running, winning the Race Across America with his team in 1994 and later becoming a member of the German national mountain running team.

Madeleine-Alisa Wörner is an energy policy officer at the episcopal aid organisation Misereor and works on topics such as climate protection, the energy transition and the promotion of pan-African energy networks. In November 2024, following the World Climate Conference in Azerbaijan, she embarked on a 3,000-kilometre bicycle journey from Istanbul to Aachen to get to know European climate protection projects in person. She changed her original plan to set off directly from Azerbaijan due to the political situation on the ground.

The Mannheim-based soul and funk band KHUMO was founded in 2022 and consists of the South African singer Khumo Kluge, Jörg Heinzmann (bass), Jay Taylor (drums), Marius Rosenthal (guitar) and Bernhard (keys). With their mixture of original songs and selected cover versions, the band has quickly established itself in the regional music scene and has already performed on renowned stages such as the Mannheim National Theatre. Their music combines classic soul and funk rhythms with modern influences and invites the audience to dance.

KHUMO

Simon Fuhrbach, born in 2004 in Kaiserslautern and raised in Neustadt/Weinstraße, is currently studying Economics - Environment - Politics in Vienna. He is particularly interested in sustainable business models and is active in the Austrian start-up scene. He has already DJed in various clubs in the Palatinate and Vienna. His musical style combines Afro House with progressive trends.

Elsa & der Viertelton is a music ensemble from the Palatinate that combines western and oriental sounds. The group consists of the Syrian oud player and singer Samer Alhalabi, the folk musician Peter Braun (guitar, vocals) and the cellist Isabel Eichenlaub. Across genres and cultures, they create a connection between folk, classical and world music - a music in which freedom and peace are alive across all boundaries.
