Violence against women is on the rise worldwide, even though some progress has been made towards gender equality in recent years.

Current figures show that in Germany, a woman is killed by her (ex-)partner almost every day. In the countries of the Global South, these figures are even higher.
Where does this worldwide attack on women's rights, which were thought to be safe, come from? What role does social media play in the spread of hate and violence?
And what can we learn from contexts in which women are under even greater pressure than in Europe?
